Trying to be honest with myself. And you. You look great today.

WIP gif of my new sketch starring my brother Peter as an Eladrin.

Rock Lion by *AgarthanGuide

I’ve been feeling off my game recently, but I was warming up on this and kinda liked where it went (for once,) so I thought I’d share.

More.

God help me.

Goddammit tumblr- look what you made me do!  I literally begged you people to get on the bandwagon and make me some Ripper Street fanart, but you dragged your heels, and now I’m doing it!

I’m supposed to be working!  I don’t have time for this shit.

Final warning, tumblr.  Ripper Street.  Or I may be forced to make more.

Just thought I’d upload what I’m working on.  I’v been in the worst rut, but it feels like I may finally be coming out of it.

By the way- the model in the last photo is my brother Peter.  He’s a Hufflepuff, he has a college degree, and is a huge geek.  He’s also the proud parent of two Marimo Moss Balls named Jake and Elwood.  Ladies.

Higher-res dwarf lady, for the tabletop gamer set that are really into dwarves these days.

I just picked up this project again, and I thought it might help renew my interest to share.

So this is a Fantasy Races project, starring my beautiful friend Lauren.  That’s her on the right.  I thought somebody may be interested in seeing the reference photos (if it were me, I would be!)

I would love to hear what you think!

Do you have an interesting face? Do you act or model?  Do you wanna?  Drop something in my ask box, and I GUARANTEE I will eventually take advantage of your willingness.

Day 3- A book that surprised you

Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrel, by Susanna Clarke

I can’t think of a more surprising book than Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell. It’s very easy to explain- it’s an alternate history which takes place during the Regency period and tells the tale of two men (and their country), within the premise that magic exists.  It is a pastiche of 19th century writing styles, a comedy of manners, an endearing rib at the concept of Englishness, and a damn fine yarn.

I have never read another book like this.  It is the first and only of its genre, and no matter how much you hear about it, you won’t be ready for its tone, its humor, its blase attitude, its utter reality and its smug otherness.  Also, it has totally meta footnotes, which carry out a sort of Pale Fire-like continuation of the universe, and in their way tell an equally fascinating story- one about scholarship, entitlement, and the pursuit of knowledge.

SPOILERS!  They’re all dead.

I needed something to do- this is what I did.  Felt like drawing… doom, I guess.

It’s way bigger on this post.

And then maybe start assigning personality and direction to characters based upon what music feels right?

I was actually doing something else- I put a playlist on random and then worked on some old WIPs for the duration of one song each.
